Back To School ALREADY!?!?! Planning Back To School Shopping
I seriously cannot believe that it’s time to go back to school ALREADY! I was planning my week in my trusty Erin Condren and nearly fell out of my chair when I realized that we’re almost halfway through JULY! Where the hell did the time go? Since we just moved to Tennessee I thought I had better figure out when school actually starts here. I was stunned to discover that we start the August the FOURTH! It was a culture shock considering that in Charlotte we started around August 28! Here I was thinking I had a month and a half left of summer…NOPE!
Today I’m sharing with you some tips that will (hopefully) help you plan and prepare for August when the kids go back to school AND I’m including a printable checklist at the end!

Take Inventory and Make a List!
In my case, I’m shopping a little “last minute” but since most of you aren’t starting back until mid to late August. Now is the time to work out your plan of attack. Having realized that I’d better get going with back to school shopping, I downloaded my kids supply lists and took inventory of their wardrobes. I made of list of the things we NEEDED and a list of extras that we will buy if the budget allows. Preparing a list of the things that you need will make shopping easier. Plus, you’ll save a TON of money because you won’t buy things that they really don’t need.
Shopping early in the season is absolutely key. Not only do you get the pick of the litter when it comes to supplies, clothes, backpacks, etc.; but you also avoid the CROWDS. I was at my local Target the other day and overheard the employees talking about preparing for the next couple of weeks when the back to school sales start and the place becomes a zoo. The only problem with shopping early is that you may miss some of the amazing back to school sales but I’d rather pay a little more for supplies and get what I need than have to search for things because they’ve sold out. And of course I hate crowds.
I love online shopping…L-O-V-E, LOVE! I use Ebates anytime I shop online because I have saved so much money since I joined. In fact, my current cash back to date is $576.34! They have tons of stores to shop from with amazing discounts AND it’s free to join. (This is not a sponsored post I just LOVE Ebates.) If you’d like to sign up and check it out for yourself click the Ebates link here and you can start earning cash back on your purchases! ‘
The great thing about shopping online is you can compare prices at several different stores without actually having to schlep around town. You can sit in the comfort of your home in your PJs and take care of business! Plus….no crowds. 😏 You also have a HUGE variety of shops and stores right at your fingertips and in many cases, online sales are better than in store!
Use Your Planner To Keep Track!
I have set up my planner with reminders to keep track of the things I’ve purchased and the things I need to get. I formatted the checklist below so I can print it and cut it to fit my Erin Condren Planner Notes page. Since my planner is ALWAYS with me, I always have my list of things to buy and I can stick within my weekly budget because I’ve “scheduled” when to purchase more expensive items. This week I had a MASSIVE Amazon order so I scheduled it for Pay Day so I wouldn’t have to use a credit card.
I really hope these tips were helpful! Make sure to print the Back To School Checklist below so you can start planning your back to school shopping! Let me know in the comments some of your tips and tricks too! Have a great weekend and Happy Planning!
